New Year - New work

January is a time for planning ahead - for us at Staithes Studos a time for writing submissions for Art Fairs, making exhibition proposals, building on the lovely relationship we have with our current artists whilst introducing new artists to the gallery.

Here is a tiny taster of what is to come

A new artist for Staithes Studios Gallery in 2016 is Freya Stockford. We first met Freya last year and fell in love with her intelligent yet playful still lifes. After completing her Foundation Diploma at Central St Martins Freya moved to Glasgow to study Painting and Printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art. Unfortunately, in her final year and 4 hours before the degree deadline, the Glasgow School of Art set on fire, destroying her entire body of work. However, Freya was awarded the Phoenix Bursary Programme allowing her to work in Glasgow as a graduate artist for 6 months, developing her painting practice resulting in a super body of work.

Can't believe how quickly time has flown - on the Summer Solstice this year we opened Staithes Studios Gallery - these are just a few of the far too many to show lovely pieces that found new homes betwixt Solstices. We are now closed for a winter break and reopen on 30th Jan 2016 ( we are never far away and can always open by appointment - A big thank you to everyone who has supported us - and HUGE thanks to the amazing artists we have been so lucky to work with - happy Winter Solstice - looking forward to seeing you in 2016

Back home after a fantastic time in Edinburgh - what lovely friendly people - having a much needed family day before we pack and get ready for our 10th & final Art Fair of the year - Find us on stand C1 at HIVE in Harrogate at the weekend

Enjoyed catching up with Laine Tomkinson this week and receiving this fabulous consignment of work - a great mix of painting and printmaking and such wonderful colour.
